Tons of sophomores rush for the first time and a lot of sophomores rerush too. Last year about 25% of girls who signed up for recruitment were sophomores so it is super common. However I will say that this group definitely drops in higher numbers than freshman because they often go in with the same attitude a lot of freshman do (top/top mid of bust) but you’re competing for a much more limited number of spots so the cuts are harsh and early for a lot of sophomores. Top tier houses sometimes take 0 sophomores while bottom tier houses often take 20+ so if you’re open to joining a bottom/lower mid house then you’ll certainly end up with a bid even if you’re a sophomore with a mediocre gpa. If you’re only open to top/top mid and middle as your last resort then don’t be surprised if you end up bidless again. For sophomores who haven’t rushed you may have a slight advantage because houses will sometimes cut you on the basis that they didn’t want you before so what has changed now and if it’s not something drastic then you’ll probably be cut at some point. Both groups whether you’ve been through or not should have pretty similar expectations though, if you go in with the expectation that you’re going to find a sisterhood that you love and that loves you back no matter which house you find that in then I promise you you’ll be just as happy on bid night whether youre getting a bid from a bottom, middle, or top house
