As a recent alum (as of Dec), recruitment is a lot like interviewing for a job. I did a bunch of group interviews before I graduated and I noticed that although all of us had a similar academic background, companies were really going for culture fit. Yeah, rejection sucks and I faced it a lot during my interviews but it has a lot of parallels to the real world. Sometimes you don't get in because another candidate fit better or outshines you but there are other options. I did not get an offer from my #1 company but so far it's been a couple of weeks at my #2 company and I think I will be very happy here. Just like the real world, things don't always go as planned but they will work out in the end
