Dear Bless, you obviously don't know as much as you think you do. Girls in larger Greek systems like Arkansas, Mizzou, Georgia, Alabama, UT, etc aren't as rooted in the house culture as you think. My friends who go to SEC schools don't live in more than one year if they get to live in at all. At Arkansas, the only way you're guaranteed to live in is to be on exec. Yes, they have a house, but only 25-15% of the chapter lives in during a given year. IU is the only school I can think of where the culture is to live in the house the entire time they are active, which sucks. By the time I was 21, I was over it. Also, with so many dietary restrictions, it's harder for some girls to live in. If you have to eat gluten free, sugar free or dairy free it's really hard to live in the chapter house. If IU would let the seniors live out and any juniors who want to, the chapter would have better retention, girls wouldn't drop.
