Yes, let's do the math. IU sororities make their own individual predetermined quota that is based on nothing more than the number of beds that will be available next year, or minimum of the 50 Panhel requires now. So the total number of bids available is predetermined at the beginning, no matter how many PNMs end up registering or who go to at least one preference. The are ALWAYS significantly fewer bids available compared to PNMs. Every year there are many PNMs who have a full preference schedule who do not receive a bid. IU's placement rate is historically around 60% based on the number of PNMs who start out. There is no other school that does it this way which is what makes us the embarrassment of the NPC. At other schools, quota is determined ON preference and is based only on how many PNMs are going to at least one preference party, and basically that number is divided by the number of sororities. If you go to at least one preference, and list all the parties you went to, you will get a bid. So if you keep an open mind and aren't a complete weird person everyone would drop immediately and you don't drop out because you decide you don't want what's left, your chances of getting a bid are essentially guaranteed. At Mizzou, over 1/3 of all PNMs drop out sometime during the process because they don't like their remaining choices. They had options. This is not competitive. This is PNMs thinking they are better than they are and having tantrums.
