Forget about this website. "but who's to say, if I get a bid, I'll get a good one that doesn't turn rotten after the "glamour" of rush week is over?" If your house does somehow turn out to suck, that is on YOU. Your sorority experience is what you make of it. There are 300 girls in every house. Lots of girls don't find their niche right away so they think they don't fit in or they joined the wrong house so they drop. 300 girls is bigger than some high school graduating classes. Plus it's ALL girls. You WILL find friends if you look for them. If you go to meetings, lunch at the house, and make an effort, it will be a lot easier to get involved with leadership positions within the house. But you have to try. Every house has something to offer. No house is rotten. I was like you, in that I wanted a house for the "real" reasons like sisterhood. I ended up joining a bottom house because for some reason I thought it would be better. I love my house with all my heart but I severely limited myself during rush because of that mindset. I had great grades, I'm attractive and social, I could have joined any house I wanted. But I assumed that the top houses were "mean girls" and that I would have a better experience in a lower tier house. Looking back, I don't think that's true. I'm happy in my house, but I probably could have been happy anywhere I ended up.
