I disagree. I don't necessarily think it's because of a stigma. I think that most houses know that commuter students have a harder time getting involved/staying involved with clubs and social things because they live so far. Commuter students who join greek life tend to drop out. a lot. It's hard to stay involved and be able to attend all the events when you live so far and have to keep driving back and forth. Sororities know this so they will often choose an on campus pnm over one who lives a half hour away.
