To be fair, these top groups HAVE to create their list ahead of time because they are required to drop 50% of the PNMs after Open House. You can't base that decision on 15 minutes of peppy and repetitive "hi...I'm Lauren...nice to meet you! I live in Hardin...My roommate is awesome! Yes I'm so excited to be going through recruitment!"... over and over again. So most if not all chapters will look at references, photos, Insta profiles, and size you up with how you fit in with their chapter and its membership before you even walk in the door. So yeah...it helps a LOT to know lots of chapter members (bonus if they are on the recruitment team!). Connections are everything! But there are those rare exceptions that just WOW every girl they meet...and those girls can sneak in the door without being "on the list" before Open House. It happens. It's just pretty rare.
