No, she can't get you a bid, she can only advocate for you to the rest of her chapter. Bids are a chapter decision, always. She can speak highly of you and try to get you invited to things or get others to meet with you so they will get to know you and also want to give you a bid, but no one member has that power. Also that's blatant Bid Promising if she told you that, which is strictly ILLEGAL and she could get her chapter into trouble and fined. Do your best but don't count on anything until and unless you get a bid in hand. Your GPA may be a hard pass no matter how well anyone likes you. Or here's another scenario: if your friend is not well-liked or well-respected in her chapter, her opinion will go against you. There are always 'those' members in a chapter and honestly whoever they think is great for a bid is an automatic NO from other members. It's as much about someone's influence as it is about what members think you can bring to the chapter. Again, good luck.
