a rec won't guarantee a bid but it is always a positive rather than a negative. i am in a house that is considered highly selective and recs are the norm. at least 85% have recs not 20 or 25%. but we prefer personal recs not the random ones you get from your area panhellenic. the best recs are the ones that make me notice you, you would be amazed at how great some of these personal recs can be.
