I don't think it is much of a "goal" - this is Illinois not the East Coast, so no one is in your face about that stuff. People here mostly just make friends based on you as an individual. HOWEVER, if you go through the process you will probably find a group who likes you for who you are and you will become a fully welcome member. Good luck!
