If it didn't matter, you would not be posting here...you would be like the 99% of unaffiliated kids that just enjoy their college experience. And that's perfectly fine, it's not for everyone. Sounds like you are dealing with some insecurities or perhaps feelings of inadequacy, or feeling like you are missing out because you did not join. And puffing out your chest and saying this stuff to try to negate those feelings. But that will not work. Just move on, and enjoy this great university.
