The biggest number NPC groups that were ever at UIUC all at once may be 24, during the booming pnm # years of 1979-1989. Many campuses nationwide experienced high NPC greek chapter growth during the 1980's, and UIUC was no exception. Then just as suddenly the number of pnms nationwide dropped-off again (baby bust) and UIUC lost four NPC groups by 1992. The entire NPC methodology of recruitment and extension has evolved since 1992. Yet sororities today take into account the same basic areas of available finances, housing, alum support, campus 'fit', and individual sorority group specifications before sending extension packets to any campus looking for sorority colonies. UIUC is not currently looking into sorority expansion. Trying to balance the number of women in each house by lowering campus total and adding campus chapters is not normally done. While it's true some groups that have been on campus before may desire to return, the proper time is not now.
