You have made general statements, allow me to answer in general: current students have many extracurricular activities available to them, some of which do not cost as much time or money as fraternal orgs. Sorority recruitment quota was down this year compared to last. During the past decade UIUC welcomed Alpha Xi Delta (2008), lost Phi Mu (2011), lost Phi Sigma Sigma (2011), re-welcomed Phi Sigma Sigma (2013), re-welcomed Phi Mu (2016), then lost Sigma Kappa (2016). Quite the mercurial campus situation! The use of the NPC's RFM method during formal recruitment allows the highest percentage of pnms who maximize their options placement within a sorority and over time tends to equalize each chapter's membership numbers. If some day many more pnms join our groups bringing ZTA, TPA, DPhiE, AST, AEPhi, ASA or Tri Sigs to UIUC may seem important. But the fact remains a lot of panhellenic research and reflection needs to happen before such an affair can occur. Also if you look at the Indiana University greekrank site there have been numerous sad posts against their recent NPC colony groups because these groups are 'newer' NPC members with fewer total members nationally. These 'newer' NPC groups also have no current IU housing, and many simply cannot afford housing if/when they colonize on larger U.S. campuses. So bringing any/some of these smaller NPC's to UIUC might not be in their or our best interests.
