SMU is not a place to go to make friends. A good portion of the population is from the afluent local high schools. So it is just high school cliques 2.0. The SMU girls from my high school (Dallas) were mostly the insta-ho/cleat chasers who were not too concerned with academics, but had enough private tutoring to stay north of a 3.00. The one girl from my high school with stellar academics who went there (full ride academics scholarship) absolutely hated it and transferred out.
