first off, not every org here hazes and hazing should be taken seriously. secondly, my whole reasoning for rushing is to have a connection to alumni from all chapters of the sorority post grad, i could gaf about parties. Unfortunately, the top national orgs are basically the same as the top-upper mid houses here at psu. On your point about "who you are" and "if a house wanted you they would’ve taken you the first time", I have changed so much since rush last year and hold a top leadership role with a org that has a lot of greek members in it. I really hope that the changes I have made greatly improve my rush experience.
