Two kinds of PNMs: 1) The ones who join a sorority for affirmation, and 2) the ones who join for sisterhood. If looks, status, and partying within a very limited, select social circle are important to you, then you are the first group -- go directly to top tier. If you are looking for friendship and fun, but also want to have a life of your own, keep up with academics and other activities, and are fine with socializing with many different types of people, then middle and lowers are for you. Not a judgement, one is not any better than the other, it's just how it is. It simply depends on what your priorities are and what you are after in becoming part of Greek life.
