I definitely recommend for you to rush!! I wasn’t in a sorority my freshman year and I felt like the only people I knew were the people living in my hall, some people from my major/classes, and some people from clubs, but I felt like none of my friendships were very close. I also didn’t like how I was mostly only meeting people with the same major as me, which can ofc be good since you have shared interests, but I felt like it limited things. I rushed my sophomore year and it was the best decision I could have made. Now all of my best friends are people from different majors and with different interests who I would’ve been unlikely to meet outside of the sorority, but now I can’t imagine my life without them. To answer your question, I had a hard time finding people who wanted to go to parties my first year when I wasn’t in a sorority, so I didn’t go out very much. For me, being in a sorority made it much more fun to go out and gave me a lot more fun events to look forward to. This is just my experience though, and I know plenty of people have great social lives without a sorority, but as someone who’s very introverted I think I needed my sorority as a way to come out of my shell
