Things I wish I knew/I'm glad I knew (plz feel free to comment more stuff) 1. Be prepared to talk about fav first year mems and where you're living next year. I got asked these abt a million times. 2. A lot of people say don't talk about boys and booze, etc during rush. Yes- don't bring up blacking out or hooking up. But depending on the srat and the girl (feel it out and if she brings it up),you can talk about going out. I remember being stressed abt this lol. 3. Sororities talk. Treat one sorority bad and she will tell her friends in other srats. You can get reported to ISC for stonewalling a sorority. 4. Just because you get dropped from a place doesn't mean the girl you talked to didn't like you. Rush is an algorithm, don't take it too personally. 5. Talking to friends and family from home is way more helpful than talking to UVA friends. They can offer unbiased advice. 6. Rank doesn't matter if you don't like the girls. Being at a slightly higher tier frat on the weekends doesn't mean much if you aren't having fun. 7. When answering questions don't just say "yes" and "no". Expand. Tell funny stories. 8. Obviously you want to wear clothes that make you feel like you and make you feel good but I promise it is not an end all. Don't lose your mind over it. 9. Take notes after each round. This is actually so helpful. Especially because all the girls and houses can kinda blur together. Write down stories, names, or noteable things to help you remember who you talked to. 10. Me and my (uva) friends tried not to talk about our experiences at specific houses during rush and I'm glad we didn't. I know other girls that talked with their friends about houses all of rush and it can get so awk when people get dropped or don't like the house. Plus you need to talk about anything but rush after a long day of rush lmao.
