Someone told me this when I went through recruitment and it really put things into perspective: As nice as it sounds to have a ton of connections at a house, it can very likely do more harm than good. Not everyone wants to be judged for how they were in high school and if half the sorority is from your area this is bound to happen. Even if you don’t think there’s any bad blood, it’s never good to count on a connection for a bid. It feels scary going into recruitment knowing no one (trust me, I did it) but you get to start with a fresh slate! Either way, there are pros and cons to knowing people and going in blind but you will end up where you’re supposed to. Good luck!!
