OOS Sorority Girl

Poster Message:
I think this is important information for PNMs to have. I'm from out of state and ended up in an in-state sorority without really realizing how heavily in-state it was. I had a hard time getting settled because so many girls already came in with established friendships and social circles. It often felt like I was starting on the outside when the whole point of recruitment was to meet new people and make new friends. Looking back, it's something I wish I had known beforehand. I also think girls from smaller towns or areas outside the major pipeline cities like Birmingham, Mobile, and Montgomery should keep this in mind as well. One of my good friends is from Alabama, but from a small town, and she had a very similar experience. She struggled to find her place in her chapter and build friendships because so many members already knew each other. At one point, she even seriously considered dropping.
