It's hard to know exactly what happened without knowing a sister who was active then. They were at UF from 1981 to 2001. They prob couldn't pull quota, even with national help, so their nationals decided to close them and focus on other chapters that had a chance to rebound or grow. Greek life goes through phases to its size, and sometimes chapters can't keep up with expanding numbers for various reasons. Extra info: we has Phi Sigma Sigma here, as well, from 1967 to the 80s and Sigma Delta Tau from 1975 to 1983. Plus, Pi Beta Phi (77-85) Delta Phi Epsilon (late 50s to 69), Sigma Kappa (late 70s to 85), and Phi Mu (87-94) all were gone from campus for brief times.
