Hi, i rushed as a sophomore and went into rush with everyone i knew telling me which houses i would fit into best. Rush itself tho is very different. I preffed a top house that I was convinced I would drop after round 1 but they surprised me every time i went back. I also preffed at a middle house. I picked the top house bc they made me feel much more wanted and welcome during recruitment. My house is also more ambitious and competitive than the other house I preffed, and they appealed to my drive. I will not lie tho, tier did affect my decision a little. It was very flattering to me that they kept asking me back, and I do think i have a slightly more active social life for it tbh. We also are way more involved on campus. I am always very proud to wear my letters, which unfortunately not every sorority member is. I will say that i do think about having gone the other house a lot. I’m more of their “type” where I’m not really my house’s type, so sometimes I do feel left out. Especially because most of my PC knew actives coming in, where I didn’t. I don’t think that either experience would have been better, just different. i’d definitely still hang out with the same frats regardless of my house, even though a lot of sororities stick to their certain frats. I have also met way more people I think because of my house. People WILL treat you differently based on your tier unfortunately. And its usually the “lower” orgs who obsess over it more. I actually avoid mentioning my affiliation unless people straight up ask just because some people act so damn weird about it.
