Even if it goes poorly, which it probably won't (I wouldn't say sophomores are at much of a disadvantage at all compared to freshman, really), just do it. Coming from someone who only got invited back to six houses and then got cut, it's better than always wondering. My self-esteem was pretty wounded from getting kicked to the curb by several thousand of my peers while I watched my fellow juniors get into great houses. But time can heal something like that. In my head, I really do know my value is not measured by however these women chose to measure me (weight, age, who knows), and eventually my emotions will catch up. But if you want to rush, and you don't rush while you have the chance because you're afraid, you will always wonder, and that's so much worse than potential temporary hurt.
