They kinda ruined themselves from what I have heard. Short Answer: Yes they are a real fraternity with a national charter. Long Answer: They were one of the largest fraternities up until 2018. One of their members got upset about not getting an exec position so he reported evidence to the university that they had an alcohol fund. The University didn't do anything so he took the issue up with Sig Ep's national headquarters. Prior to this, after multiple incidents of alcohol-related deaths, Sig Ep decided to make all chapters across the nation stop providing alcohol in an effort to save face. Because of that, they took the violation seriously, and one way or another more than half their members dropped out although I don't know if that was voluntary or by force. This all happened internally though so they were never kicked off campus by the school. They are starting to rebuild but as of now, they are a relatively small chapter.
