<strong>Subject:</strong><br />Diversity and Sorority Bids<br /><br /> Poster Message:
I’m really excited to rush this spring and I honestly want a bid from a top 8 or so sorority as I’ve been told they get the best socials and all that. A social media deep dive shows pretty low diversity so I’m wondering if that might affect my chances of getting a bid from chapters like APhi, Theta, DZ, KKG, AXO, etc. I got kind of a weird reaction when I told other incoming freshmen and current students that I’m planning on rushing (I was looked up and down and told that I should check out cultural sororities and clubs instead buy one person and given weird looks by a couple others). I don’t want to overreact or anything, but this is making me a bit nervous to rush as a mixed (black/white) girl. I feel like I come from a stereotypical sorority girl background (upper middle class white suburbia) and I think my extroverted and bubbly personality and basic, trendy style are the kind that would fit well in a sisterhood. Any advice on rushing as a POC/any POC experiences in Miami Greek life?
