It definitely doesn't hurt! I know for some sororities you need to have a letter of recommendation or reference to get a bid (which makes it easier on the sisters because if one hasn't already been written for you then someone who talked to you during the rounds is gonna have to write it). Also please lose the idea that being in a "top" sorority matters at all. People (shallow boys) might care about rank while you're an underclassman but once you hit junior year that feeling of superiority just kinda goes away because it's completely made-up. All the posts on here ranking six or eight sororities and then saying "the rest don't matter" are annoying as hell and just build up to disappointment if a girl doesn't end up with a bid to one of them.
