So, at least in my mind rankings aren’t just based on looks, unless you’re in a chapter that recruited girls solely on looks (re: Alpha Phi national scandal a couple years back) it’s based on a mix of academics, involvement, personality, frat/srat relations and sisterhood. My experience with alpha phi shows poor frat relations, little involvement with other Panhellenic chapters, average/below average sisterhood that leads to a low retention of members (new members often complaining about cattiness and cliques) and little campus involvement. Sure APhi has pretty girls, but if all you think about when rushing is “I just want to be with the hottest girls” then you’re in it for the wrong reasons and you’re not gonna be happy with the result, recruiters see right through that and they’ll cut you if that’s all you seem to value. Sorority life is about sisterhood, bonding, growing as a person and learning about yourself. It’s about having common values that will make you valuable to society. If you’re only concern is that alpha phi is hotter than like 5 sororities above them and that’s the only thing that matters to you, that’s vain and inconsiderate to not only Alpha Phi but to the Panhellenic community. Everyone above you cares about more than just their looks, maybe you should care about more important things too.
