IMO the mid-tier is split into two parts: the upper middle tier and the lower middle tier. The upper middle tier consists of Sig Ep, KA, SAE, and Kappa sig, order could change depending on who you would ask. The lower middle tier consists of the ones you mentioned: Delta Chi, Sigma Pi, Beta, and FIJI. Here are a description of each: Sig Ep: Kind of the “model” fraternity. They have the administration on their side, they’re transitioning to a dry house, but they’re still really cool IMO and have a lot going for them. SAE: The opposite of sig ep in many ways. If sig ep is polished and forward and reserved, SAE is wild, gritty, and always trying to push the envelope of what’s allowed. Kind of the last “animal house” still on campus other than kappa sig. KA: Good old boys. Very southern. Their reputation goes back a very long way. When you think KA think trucks, beer, and Southern charm. Kappa Sig: very similar to SAE but kind of slumping this year. I wish I had more to say about them but there hasn’t been a single event here for a long time. Lower middle Sigma Pi: used to have a very small house on college ave until they got the Lambda Chi mansion last year. Throw good tailgates and pregames but still trying to shake the stigma of their past few years. On a good upswing though. FIJI: It’s the frat everyone loves to hate but the hate is pretty unfounded. Fiji’s cool but they’re kinda boring. Their events are getting better and their house is in a great location. Delta Chi: If I could explain them in one word it would be try hard. I can’t stand delta chi. Just not a fan. Beta: I actually really like beta. Very chill, smart house with a lot of cool guys. Don’t rush here if you want to party all the time though. More of a fraternity than a frat if that makes sense.
