They are not important and can bite you in the butt. Most sororities resent that they have to invite some girls back due to having a Rec letter over girls that they like more that don't have them, knowing that the girl with the Rec letter will more than likely get cut after second round. Rec letters are often written by people who don't know the girl rushing and we often do not read them.
