Here's the real tea. UD's DG chapter exemplified what Panhellenic life was designed for: service & sisterhood. The girls commenting on their insta post are the same girls who dropped out of formal recruitment when they went through it and got DG AND the same girls who were rude to their faces in rounds. As someone heavily involved in formal recruitment in past years at UD, I can say first hand that girls going through recruitment do everything they can to get rid of DG as FAST as they can. Why do they do something so rude you ask? Because of frat boys. They hear what chapters frats want to mix with and think are "hot" and then get butthurt when they get dropped from them. VERY few of them join their organizations because they're genuinely interested in service or sisterhood because to them it's all about social climbing and bragging rights. This is especially ironic considering how many fraternities fake CAP points and don't spend even an ounce of time on philanthropy unless a "hot" chapter wants to run a fundraiser with...uh I mean...FOR them. Furthermore, the chapters considered to be the most desirable also seem to have the most issues with sisterhood...interesting. Could it be that when you recruit based on looks you end up with a chapter of girls who don't actually share the same values and get along? It's unfortunate that we don't want to have a conversation about the culture on this campus and the values of some of the chapters here that are still allowed to function. I think we should all take this time to look into the history and values that our organizations say they stand for and reflect on what we can do to exemplify them because a chapter that excelled where we falter is being punished for our mistakes. But y'all frat stars not ready for that conversation
